The Mutated Insect Queen is a colossal, prehistoric insect reanimated and mutated by a radioactive meteorite that landed in the Alberta Badlands. Presumed to be a meganeuriform predator, the Queen dwarfs the already gigantic Mutated Meganeura and exhibits unique traits indicative of both genetic mutation and extraterrestrial influence.
The Queen is identified by her hardened exoskeleton, thick plating, and iridescent wings capable of generating hurricane-force winds. Most notably, she produces a potent acid spray used both defensively and offensively, capable of melting through solid rock and engineered materials. Her mandibles and ovipositor are similarly weaponised, and her control over the Meganeura swarm suggests the presence of chemically or telepathically transmitted pheromones.
The Queen made her nest in the depths of an abandoned mine, abducting Diana and multiple civilians to serve as hosts or food for the growing swarm. During his investigation, field agent Martin Mystery tricked the queen to submerge the meteorite with her acid. The destruction of the meteorite neutralised the radiation keeping the Queen and her brood alive, causing her to shrink rapidly in size.
The Center retrieved fragments of her exoskeleton and residual meteorite material, now held in biocontainment for study. Due to her capacity for regeneration and swarm control, she has been classified as a Class-4 Xenomutant Entity. The incident has heightened The Center’s scrutiny of any future meteorite impacts, especially in areas known to contain fossilised life.
